![]() Now take both halves as if you were going to stand them up with the flat side on the bottom. On the second half, you are going to make a vertical cut starting in the middle of the lower arch and cutting up about half the width of the arch. On one of the halves, you are going to make a vertical cut starting at the top of the arch and cutting down about half with width of the arch. Place the halves next to each other with the straight edges closest to you. To do that, you'll need to make a single cut on each one (see photo below). Your two doughnut halves are going to fit together into a cross or t shape. Next, you're going to make the base for the rocket ship.Match the other straight side up to the first one, sticking them together in a cone shape. To make the cone shape for the top of your rocket, take the Pac-Man shaped circle and place a line of glue along one of the straight sides (edges of Pac-Man's mouth) on the painted side.Once everything is painted, you'll want to wait until the paint dries before proceeding. Now it's time to paint! You'll want to paint the outside of the paper towel tube, one side of the Pac-Man shaped circle, and both sides of both halves of your doughnut shaped cut out.Now cut along the fold you made to cut it in half. When it is opened back up, it should look like a doughnut with a hole in the middle. Along the folded side cut out a semi-circle. The second circle is going to become the base of the rocket ship. This is the circle that you will use to make a cone for the top of the rocket ship. You're going to cut out a piece that is about 1/4 to 1/3 of of the circle (similar to Pac-Man with his mouth open). Start with one circle and think of it as a pie. They should be larger than the diameter of the paper towel tube. Decorations like stickers, paper shapes, stamps, glitter, markers, etc (optional). ![]() Paper towel tube (or toilet paper tube for a smaller rocket). It was really easy and you can make one with your kids too! Here's how. This historic moment inspired us to make our own rocket ship using materials we already had at home. On we watched the launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon spacecraft which sent NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley from the Kennedy Space Center to the International Space Station. At our house, we're always looking for crafts that are easy to make.
